Fundraiser at Desert Child Development Center

A couple of weekends ago we had our fundraiser at Izzy's preschool. I was there signing books and was able to donate a portion of the proceeds to the school. I sold 15 copies, which I thought was pretty goo. It was a fun day. The kiddos were mainly interested in the face painting, temporary tattoos and colored hair spray though. :)

Salt and Soap is at the Barnes & Nobel in Flagstaff

How exciting is this? Here is Salt and Soap in the local interest section of the Barnes & Nobel in Flagstaff. Doing the Happy Dance!!!!!!!!

Salt and Soap is in the Book stores at the Grand Canyon

Whooohooooo! It's so exciting to see our book in the stores. Here is is at the Visitor Center book store at Mather Point at the Grand Canyon. It's doing really well. Yeah to Salt and Soap!

Izzy approves!

Grand Canyon Book Release

Last Tuesday I was up at the Grand Canyon with Lori Rome, the Author, for the official book launch of the Salt & Soap book to the Grand Canyon community. What a great evening it was. Salt and Soap were there as well signing books and looking for free belly rubs.

Lori did a great presentation about the story of what happened to Salt and Soap that included a lot of great information about the Canyon itself. Lori is such an engaging presenter. After Lori finished her presentation I talked about the artwork of the book and what the process entailed. We then signed books and chatted with everyone that was there. More than 75 books were sold that night. Yeah for Salt and Soap!

Here I am signing away.

Here is Lori and I signing and Lori's Kevin stamping the books with the puppies paw prints.

There were so many people there to celebrate the launch to our book. Thank you everyone for making it such a successful event.

Tucson Book Festival

If you managed to stop by the Tucson Festival of Books a couple of weeks ago, you'll know what a great event it was. I didn't expect there to be as many people as there were. I think I heard that there were over 30,000 poeple that came to the event over the weekend.

We had a blast. Lori and I had two presentations where Lori ready the book to kids on the Story blanket and talk a littl emore about the story of Salt and Soap. Of course Salt and Soap were there as well. They even signed the books. Here are some photos.

Here is Lori telling Salt and Soap's Story.

Here are the pups with their dad (Lori's Kevin). Aren't they just the cutest?

Here I am being Vanna while Lori is reading the story.

There were quite a few people and kids that stopped by to listen to the story.

Meet me at the Grand Canyon on the 24th of March

Please join author Lori Rome and me for a visual, entertaining presentation based on our new book published by the Grand Canyon Association, The Adventures of Salt & Soap at Grand Canyon!

I will give a short presentation after Lori's and will share some of the sketches I created for the book.

This event is free and open to the public and will “officially launch” our new book to the Grand Canyon community.

Grand Canyon Community Building
Tuesday, March 24, 2009
7:00 p.m.

Lori Rome’s program description:
Salt & Soap: A True Canine Story of Friendship and Adventure at Grand Canyon.

The Adventures of Salt and Soap at Grand Canyon is the true story of two puppies that wandered into the Grand Canyon and experienced great adventures in the grandest of all canyons—multiple rim-to-river hikes, a river trip on the mighty Colorado and a helicopter ride out of the canyon’s depths—while ultimately snuggling their way into park rangers’ and visitors’ hearts.

Hope to see you there.

Next Illustrator Meeting April 4th

Hi everyone,

Due to popular demand, we'll be meeting on a Saturday morning for our next illustration meeting. Our next meeting will be:

Saturday, April 4th
9:30 in the morning

We'll meet in the cafe area again at Barnes & Noble at Tempe Marketplace where the 202 and the 101 meet off Rio Salado. Seeing that the weather has been so nice we can also meet in their outside area by the fountain if we like. We can decide that when everyone gets there.
